Tall Girls: People Want to Be Like You

Richmond, VA - I have not always appreciated my height but now that I am older I recognize the importance of accepting it. In accepting my height, those around me are more comfortable and I find myself doing a lot more smiling than when I was younger.

I have always been tall; therefore, the topic of height has been on going for over 20 years now. I have been called every name in the book that has some association with being tall or height. The one that I find to be the least creative is "Amazon". The word is as old as the word “prostitution”. In a lot of cases, the word is associated with women out of control or barbaric. So, I think it would be an insult to call a tall, elegant woman an Amazon but then again I am only one opinion, right?

Nevertheless, Amazon along with all the other "pet" names for tall women (i.e. slim, big girl, stretch, Shaq, Minute, Jolly Green Giant, Lurch, skyscraper, etc.) will continue to be with us for a lifetime. So, it is simply wise to ignore the comments we find to be insulting. It is not worth the time!

In a lot of cases, people who do not have something positive to say about tall girls are envious. Hard to believe, huh? Well, believe it!

Height is a gift. People can not go and buy height, like they can buy eye color,    hair, lips, breast, etc.

Because you are tall, the sky is the limit. You simply have to be confident in your skin and make wise decisions about your health.

Get regular check-ups. Making sure that you have no tall person disease associate with your height is important to know.

Wear shoes and clothing that fit you.

Avoiding bringing unnecessary attention to yourself. Your height brings enough attention so don't force imperfections to the forefront by not paying attention to your posture and how you carry yourself.
